FUNDRAISER
The Spotted Cat Music Club had 442 professional musicians scheduled to perform during the month of April. That’s over 100 musicians a week that depended on playing in our humble little stage to meet their livelihoods! April would have provided so much joy for our local, national and international patrons and would have given the musicians an opportunity “to stack their chips” before the seasonal low of New Orleans summer. Our local musicians are extremely passionate about their craft and with unemployment being a limited option for them as “gig workers”, making ends meet during this time is exponentially tougher.
The Spotted Cat Family implores our past, present, and future supporters of our venue for donations of any size to provide a bit of hope and assistance during this historically crisis. Our goal of $44,200 will be equally distributed amongst the musicians who were already scheduled for the month. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
COVID-19 NOTICE
Per the request of New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, we will be closed until further notice. We care deeply for and respect the well-being of our community. Thank you for your understanding.
The quintessential Jazz Club of New Orleans
Located in the heart of the enchanted Faubourg Marigny, just steps away from the hustle and bustle of the French Quarter, it has been and remains the local favorite for live New Orleans music ranging from Traditional and Modern Jazz, Blues, Funk, Klezmer, and so much more. Patrons are sure to enjoy listening to local musicians playing their hearts out.
What folks are saying about The Spotted Cat!
“Great little place on Frenchmen Street, removed from the crowds and chaos of Bourbon Street. Bartenders were lively and friendly, pouring good drinks at reasonable prices. Meschiya Lake and the Little Big Horns played some of the best music we heard in NOLA.”
“Hands down, twas the best jazz bar I went to in New Orleans. Located on Frenchmen St where there’s plenty of jazz to go around twice, it’s small and intimate but by no means tame... unlike anything I’ve ever heard before - and as a piano player I can assure you the pianist was a genius. Every single one of them was! ”
“Amazing place. Definitely on my top 3 best places in the city. I like the environment and music. Musicians are very nice and after each song one person goes around the place to collect donations. So if you’re shy or somewhere in the back - no worries. They got your money. Try come on Friday night they have pretty cool dancers/couples who will dance swing. The place is small but it has another huge plus compare to most other places on Frenchman. It’s their air conditioning! Very cool place!”
“In New Orleans but want to stay away from the drunken frat boys and girls gone wild? Looking for a real jazz club with a great atmosphere? I was in New Orleans for a conference and a friend suggested going to The Spotted Cat Music Club. It was packed for a reason. This small music box has a stage, bar, and a cozy jazz friendly area to stand and meet music lovers in a ‘locals’ area of the French Quarter. The talent is top notch and perhaps the key indicator of why this place is a local favourite.
I don’t give out a whole lot of 5 stars... the Spotted Cat Music Club deserves every one.”
